Kenyans in Rome celebrate 61st Madaraka Day
On 1st June 2024, over 250 Kenyan Diaspora in Rome and its environs attended Madaraka Day celebrations hosted by Amb. Fredrick Matwang’a and the Chief guest, Amb. Ann Wanjohi, the Director of Liaison and Partnership, State Department for Diaspora Affairs – Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs.
The Ambassador highlighted H.E. President William Ruto’s message of “promoting agriculture and food security” as he led the country in marking this year’s 61st Madaraka Day, as a tribute to the nation’s continued efforts towards self-sufficiency and prosperity.
This year, the celebrations were themed “Madaraka Cultural Day” to showcase Kenyan culture and promote the celebration of unity and patriotism among the Kenyan Diaspora in Italy, Greece, Cyprus, Malta and Albania. Kenyan music, dance, food, attire, and art were showcased during the day, culminating in fostering a spirit of unity in diversity.
